Week One Day Three

Today was the final day of week one and I ran it perfectly. One week down, eight more to go. My legs were not that sore today and the five minute warm up kept them nice and loose. I was a bit tired because of my three crunch days as I like to call em. (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday I have to get up at 5:20A.M. to be at school at 6:15A.M. for my 5 hour class 7:00A.M. to 12:00P.M.) Even though I was tired I still got out there and did it and it went by easily. Its weird at some points in the middle I am so tired and then by the last two intervals I am pumped or something and I feel like I could just keep going for another minute or so.

I ran again today on the nature walk way and it felt like it went by pretty fast today. During the running part I kept noticing that I was hunching over, probably from being on my feet so long during class and hunching over the table to do knife cuts or what ever I need to be doing. During my cool down walk my lower back was hurting pretty bad so I stopped to pop it and stretch it then kept on walking.

Looks like on Monday I will be starting my second week. I am pretty proud of my self. Week nine looks to be a way off and even the thought of running for multiple minutes straight kinda is scary but I will eventually work up to that. Tomorrow after class I will probably leave a little update with some pictures of the menu this week that we are cooking tomorrow. (Thursday and Friday are prep days for Saturday which is presentation + eating day.)

Miles to date: 6.3

Wow, you're doing great with your running! I'm glad you have found that something you can enjoy, and that you have found somewhere safe to run. I'm sure your back was sore from cooking, maybe you should get some stretches to do before you head out on the days you cook or prep.

Looking forward to seeing some culinary pictures!

Congratulations on your new adventure, I hope you continue to love it.

Love,
Mom

You got past the first week so now it is all downhill.. well week 5 can be tough but remember you can always repeat a week if needed. We all get that feeling of being tired and then your second wind kicks in. It just means you are a runner

Alright Tyler, I'm the run/walk zealot! If you haven't already done so, check out Galloway's run/walk method at www.jeffgalloway.com. You don't have to kill yourself to get into running. Have fun at Culinary school. My brother graduated from the one in New York and he's in San Fran now. I love to cook too, but I'm mostly a food burner :-)

Hey man, congrats on making it through Week 1. I had no doubt that you would make it. I wouldn't worry too much about week 9. You'll be plenty ready for it when it gets here.

Thanks for bringing home the real food. It sure tasted as good as it looked. I'll be expecting some more the next time you come home, LOL!
